One of my favorite pages that I refer clients to often is in SHIFT. Page 73.

I’ll save you the trouble. Gary Keller writes (Subject: Ramp it up): To do this, you must subscribe to one simple belief: dealing with business never takes precedence over finding business. Never. You must adopt the position that until your lead generation is done every day, nothing else should get done. This may seem like a tough position for you to adopt, but adopt it you must. Otherwise you will constantly find other things that seem more important or allow other things to convince you they’re more important.

Sounds like a “time blocking” conversation to me. How about to you?

When you decide to adopt this thinking, how will you choose to go about making it real? If you just think about it, will it happen… consistently… over time? Or will the good intentions give way to the distractions?

Have you found yourself scrambling to fill the pipeline because you got so focused on handling deals? How does it feel to fall behind over and over? Imagine if that continues. How long will it take for you to decide this business is too hard… or you get so frustrated you take it out on your family?

Create the habit of putting the top 20% activities into your schedule. Choose to be disciplined and follow your schedule. Every day. When it does become a habit, and it will; you’ll find the motivation is there because the feelings (motivation is an emotion) follow the actions (discipline is the action/choice you make).

When it is a habit, there is little to no effort involved.

Make the decision. While you have your schedule out… plan a vacation! This is the first thing to go into your calendar every year. I have several clients who already have their vacations planned for 2022!

Only through getting it on the schedule and being disciplined enough to execute will you have the freedom you deserve. Start today.
