Thursday's BOLD LAW is " Logic makes them think, emotion makes them act "...Here's an example....
Imagine someone challenges you to walk across a 100 foot long plank that's only 8 inches wide...and it's 3 feet off the ground and they offer you $ 1000.00 to do it ? No brainer , right ? That's an easy $ 1,000.00 !...all emotion & action, no logic.
Next, it's ten feet off the ground...do you do it ?..a little more logic goes into it....and maybe...you can't get too badly hurt if you slip off, right ? Then they say $ 10,000.00 to do it...Okay, a little more thinking , but for ten grand ? Emotion probably gets most people to take the action and do it !
Next, it's fifty stories up between two tall buildings...Ten grand...Now, way more logic and no instant emotion/action because the answer is no , right ?
What if it's for $ 100,000 dollars ? More logic and your heartbeat rate increases...Maybe it's a " yes " for some of us and a " No Way ! '' for most ?.
..
What if it's for One MILLION dollars ? Do you take the risk for a million dollars or do you still say " Nope, I'm not risking my life for any amount of money ! " That's a perfectly okay answer...No judgement here...I'll bet some people would take the risk for it though...
The point is, look at all the logic that goes into a decision that starts out for a little money at a little height and then increases gradually , both in risk vs. reward. Where do you say " yes " and what makes you say " no " ? Logic makes you think and emotion gets you to act.
Finally, same scenario...fifty stories up, 100 foot long plank that is 8 " wide....No money offered but....your 10 year old child is being held by a terrorist and only you can save him/her by getting across the plank...
Again, like the first example , a no brainer...it's all emotion and action taking place and no logic because that's my kid's life at stake ! We ALL probably RUN across that plank in seconds to take out the bad guy , right ? ( I know this is a graphic thought ) , but look at the differences between logic and acting on an emotion.
Logic makes us think and emotion causes us to act !
What are you THINKING about today that you know you should probably add a little EMOTION into it that would spur you into ACTION ?
