This week's BOLD LAW... "Success is simple...not easy"...Make sure it is YOUR definition of success, not someone else's for you!
Success is simple, not easy.
In my past several years ago, I was trying to live up to what someone else's definition of success was for me. It was probably unrealistic and deep down, it was not what I wanted but, in order to want to “Look good” and be a faithful student, I was trying to live up to that image. I was chasing something that I did not want or believe in and, it was making me miserable deep down inside myself because I was constantly comparing myself to others.
When you do that, you are going to lose. On the outside, I was doing okay and having a productive career, but ultimately, I saw myself as not being as good as others who were achieving more.
Then along came Tim Wood, one of the great mentors I was fortunate to ever have. He taught us to have our OWN definition of success for ourselves. You don't have to live up to an unrealistic definition of success for yourself that has been put in place by someone else for you.
Yes, that person, a coach, a parent, or a teacher, was maybe trying to push you to a greater height and inspire you to do more things, and that's okay. It's not okay if it's not yours and it's not your dream and not your goal. And worse than that, living up to that image for someone else may ultimately depress you or make you miserable.
In the end though, you are the one looking in the mirror and you must be the one who decides what your definition of success is and what that looks like for you. Whatever that may be, remember that you still have to put in the work FIRST! That work may be simple and it's not easy to do it, especially when we can't define what success looks like for us.
Determine your definition of success for you .... should be simple.
Go to work on it...not easy.
"The only place that success comes before work is in the dictionary."
