Last Friday's BOLD LAW from KW MAPS Transformational Coach George Gillas..." You get what you deserve in your imagination "
You get what you deserve in your imagination
What do you hold in your imagination? How do you think about where you are, where you want to be, and the gap between the two?
What amount of time and energy to invest in picturing, in great detail, the life you want? And how much time and energy do
you spend thinking about where you are… and perhaps how ‘impossible or difficult’ your dream may be?
Gary Keller writes that most people overestimate what they can do in one year and underestimate what
they can accomplish in five. Consider that, in five years you will be five years older. You can be five years
older, or you can be five years older with new habits, accomplishments, and a completely different life.
Imagination. How do you choose to use it?
I’m writing this on a Wednesday evening and thinking about a client I worked with this morning. We were talking about his
new workout regime and how his trainer told him today, “… you look like an athlete” – and the positive impact that had on himj.
ust a few weeks ago my client was out of breath going up a flight of stairs. He decided “I don’t want this anymore!” and got with a trainer.
Today he did 10 sets of squats with 10 reps each… and told me there wasn’t much weight... just two 10 lb. weights.
I reminded him the bar likely weighs 10 lbs. too, so he lifted 300 lbs. with each set. At 10 sets that’s 3000 lbs…plus his body weight.
He moved one and a half tons of weights today where a few weeks ago he had trouble going up a flight of stairs…
As we dug into it, he discovered that what got him into action was clearly an “away from” motivation, “I don’t want this anymore!”
Now his view is, “I want to feel great in my body…”
Away from motivation – your imagination of what you don’t want or can’t take anymore - is a great way to get you into action.
So, if you can’t quite wrap your mind around your dream … think about what you don’t want anymore. And decide when you
will start to move away from that.
As you gain momentum, you can easily change your focus onto what you do want – the five-year plan… or the
one-year plan… or the 12-week year. It doesn’t matter what “plan” you choose – as long as you identify what you want and
move towards it – every day. Every week.
It’s okay, even encouraged, to imagine what you do not want any more. As long as you use this energy to get you into motion.
Einstein said, "Imagination is more important than knowledge. For knowledge is limited, whereas imagination embraces the
entire world, stimulating progress, giving birth to evolution."
