Friday's BOLD LAW from KW MAPS NLP Coach George Gillas ....

Focus on the solution not the problem.


We all know this is a more effective way to think because the solution to any problem is not in the problem itself… it is always outside the problem. To paraphrase Einstein, we can’t use the same thinking to solve a problem that we used to create it…

Often times we think the solution is just one choice: what would happen if I do X instead? And that limits our thinking.

Here’s a way to expand the limits of your problem solving skills past the dimensions of “should I do it or not do it?” These four questions will open your mind (given you take the time to think them through) to new possibilities that you likely did not consider.

Ask yourself the following:

What do I have to GAIN by doing X?

What do I have to LOSE by doing X?

What do I have to GAIN if I DO NOT do X?

What do I have to LOSE if I DO NOT do X?

 

It may seem there is repetition in the questions. There isn’t. When we consider all four of these, we often immediately see options that were hidden. Then you can explore the options by using the same four questions. Drill down and find new solutions to focus on.

BTW – if you have kids, this is a fun way to stimulate their thinking!
