Friday's BOLD LAW "Complaining equals a Garbage magnet!
Complaining = Garbage Magnet
Focusing on complaining, when you think about it, is a focus on the past. We complain about how things should have, would have, or could have been. They didn’t work out that way, did they? Because if they did, we wouldn’t be complaining.
Let’s be real. Do you want to be around someone who complains? Chances are very high that you said, “no”. By that standard, if you catch yourself complaining often, you wouldn’t want to be around yourself, would you?
And neither does anyone else!
Complaining can have a purpose; it can identify something is wrong. A problem. An error. Complaining without action to correct the problem, however, is useless hot air. So, don’t do it.
If you find something to complain about and you have the power to fix it or change it then fix it or change it. And do it without complaining. Send the food back because it’s undercooked. Ask for fresh coffee because it’s cold. Point out to the smoker that they are sitting in a no-smoking area – or ask for the manager to do so. Just do it without complaining.
When you can learn from the past, that changes things because you get exposure to ideas that are new to you, even though they are wrapped in old events. Can we agree, however, that when you are complaining you are not likely to be open to new ideas? Because it’s probably a new idea that will be the solution to the thing you’re complaining about…
And if you can’t fix or change it, don’t complain. Change your situation. Leave the party. Walk out of the bad movie. Excuse yourself from the uncomfortable conversation. You always have the choice to take some type of action; either to fix the problem or remove yourself from the situation.
Think about the mental energy you’ll save and the deposits of self-esteem that you’ll put into your own mind.
