Check out the meaning of the word " Eustress"...from KW MAPS Transformational Coach George Gillas... BOLD LAW... " No pressure, no diamonds
No Pressure...no Diamonds !
Pressure can be a good thing. It all depends how you define it and how you choose to handle yourself if things are feeling like they are getting out of control.
Pressure, in the purest sense will always exist in various forms. There is atmospheric pressure – without which you would literally explode. There is barometric pressure that defines how the weather feels to you. You put air pressure in your tires or to fill up your balloons for your open house. In the basic sense of the word, we cannot escape pressure.
Where pressure seems too much, we often define it as stress. What would happen if you change the definition of stress?
Consider that there is good stress (pressure) that you use all the time, but rarely call it by its proper name… eustress.
Eustress is defined as: moderate or normal psychological stress interpreted as being beneficial for the experiencer.
Beneficial to the experiencer. What kinds of eustress have you experienced? When does eustress drive your performance and influence your results? What can you do to moderate the amount of stress/eustress in your life? How can you view the “pressure” you feel as eustress instead?
And what if we redefine the definition of stress to simply be: a compelling force. This is a simple idea – change the definition in your mind (another BOLD Law here about the “… way you look at things…”) and potentially get new results.
We all have pressure and stress. How do you decide to give meaning to it? Is it something that will stop you in your tracks or is it eustress that will drive you forward so you become the compelling force to get things done?
It’s not about the word, is it? It’s about the meaning we give the word… and how much power we give to the meaning.
