All work expands to the fill the time allowed

Years ago I read a great book where the author made a point that in one year you will be one year older or you can be one year older with new skills and talents.

Work expands to fill the time. What will you choose to do with your time? We only have a limited amount… and now it seems we have more time than ever. Or do we?

We still have only 24 hours in a day… 168 hours in a week. That’s the same for everyone… it doesn’t change and it will not change. Ever.

So how do you manage yourself through time?

The answer is simple. Decide.

Decide what you want your business to look like when this is over.

Decide who you need to become to have that business.

Decide what skills you may need to learn to become that person.

Find the sources for those skills.

Time block because you’ve decided this is important to you.

Start.

When you make a commitment to yourself on your calendar and your calendar reflects those 20% activities that will improve your life; you’ll find that getting the work done in a limited amount of time is easy. You will be more focused. More creative. More productive.

My tagline for years has been: Decide. Act. Maintain. Succeed.

So, keep it simple… and start.
